Gold is so malleable that a single ounce can be stretched into a thin wire over ____ long.
Taking a photo today is instantaneous, but in the early days of photography, patience was the most important skill.
The First Photograph:
🏗️ In 1826, Joseph Nicéphore Niépce took the world's first permanent photograph using a process called heliography
⏳ The camera required an exposure time of at least 8 hours (some historians believe it could have been several days) to capture a single grainy image
No People Allowed:
🏙️ Because the exposure took so long, any moving objects like people or carriages didn't appear in early photos—only static buildings and landscapes were captured
☀️ Interestingly, in the first photo ever taken, the sun appears to shine on both sides of the buildings because it moved across the sky during the exposure
